The CISIT (Campus International sur la Sécurité et l’Intermodalité des Transports - International Campus on Safety and Intermodality in Transportation) brings together one of the most significant groups of researchers, engineers and technicians in France (250 people) working in the area of inland transport. Located in the heart of a region with a thriving rail- and motorvehicle production industry alongside a significant logistics sector, the campus provides a base for the best multidisciplinary research and innovation teams in the Nord-Pas de Calais region. CISIT has identified four key international research goals, which include the optimal management of multimodal transport chains, new concepts for clean, safe and lightweight vehicles, intelligent, safe and secure mobility and, lastly, morphoadaptive safety and human factors.
Its operations thereby guarantee continuity between upstream research, targeted research and technological development while ensuring the development of expertise through training. Its aim is to define and configure the systems of the future that will respond to new societal challenges as they are taking shape, specifically in terms of new comodal transport services.
To date, the CISIT has built on the experience of 12 laboratories and three technological development centres to provide a large number of partners, transport operators and industrialists with comprehensive and relevant solutions to concerns around safety and intermodality. In particular, it provides them with access to around 12 original technological platforms that enable them to carry out full-scale tests for the development of new procedures and competitive improved performance systems.
